Commissions Process

How to order a commission artwork from Wendy Brown

A one-off, original painting or drawing is a wonderful way to treat yourself or a loved one to something truly unique and with a powerful personal connection.

Pet portrait commission of a Staffordshire Bull Terrier by Wendy Brown in Weston-super-Mare.

The process is quite simple - free consultation, photo, deposit, mock up, approval, painting, final approval & payment, then delivery.

Here's the detail:

  • Free, no-obligation consultation - Get in touch, either in person or online. Request your preferred medium, size & timescale, e.g. acrylic painting on canvas, A2 sized, by the end of September 2025. I will get back to you with any questions and to confirm things like price and turnaround times.
  • Photo - send the clear photo(s) of the subject.
  • Deposit - can be paid online or in person. Always 50% of the total price.
  • Mock up - I'll often send a digital mock up to show how it will look in terms of layout, proportion, background, etc. Changes - it is critical that any requests or changes are done at this stage as things cannot be changed in any significant way once the painting has started.
  • Painting - oils take much longer (8-16 , weeks) than acrylics (4-8 weeks) due to the longer drying times. Pencil drawings can be turned around within 2 weeks typically, from design approval to despatch. Timescales will also vary depending on my workload. If you require regular updates and progress photos, do ask.
  • Final approval and payment - I will send a photo of the finished artwork to ensure you are happy, then dispatch it after the final balance payment has been made.
  • Delivery will be by hand if you are local or by additional (pre-agreed) postage cost if you are further away.

Paintings are sold unframed to save significantly on postage costs and to allow you to choose a frame to suit your own interior style.

Drawings are sold mounted, e.g.  drawing in an A3 mount, with a backing board and cellophane protective wrapper.

If you would like to proceed with an initial, no-obligation enquiry, please get in touch. I'll be happy to help.
