How to order a commission artwork from Wendy Brown
Free, no-obligation consultation
- either in person or online.
- you send the photo(s) of the subject.
- request your preferred medium, size and timescale, e.g. acrylic painting on canvas, A2 sized, by the end of September 2024.
- Wendy will get back to you with any questions and to confirm things like price and turnaround times.
Deposit
- 50% is always payable up front. This can be done in cash or card in person or online if needed.
Mock up
- Wendy will usually send a digital mock up to show you how the design will look in terms of layout, proportion, background colours, etc .
- it is important that any requests or changes are done at this stage as things cannot be changed in any significant way once the painting has started
- once you’ve approved the mock up, the painting will start.
The painting process
- for oils this takes much longer than acrylics due to the longer drying times.
- pencil drawings can be turned around within 2 weeks typically, from design approval to despatch.
- acrylics paintings take 4-8 weeks depending on size and complexity.
- oil paintings typically take 2-4 months.
- timescales will also very depending on Wendy’s workload.
- if you require regular updates and progress photos, do ask.
Final approval
- Wendy will send a photo of the finished artwork to ensure you are happy, then dispatch it after the final balance payment has been made.
- Delivery will be by hand if you are local or by additional (pre-agreed) postage cost if you are further away.
- Paintings are usually sold unframed to save significantly on postage costs and to allow you to choose a frame to suit your own interior style.
- Drawings are sold mounted, eg an A4 drawing in an A3 mount, with a backing board and cellophane protective wrapper.
