"Gazing across Town Beach, St. Mary's, Isles of Scilly" by Wendy Brown

Sometimes the most peaceful moments are the simplest.

This local man was spotted on St Mary’s, sitting quietly on the harbour, gazing across Town Beach and out over the bay towards Tresco &  Bryher. You can’t see his face, but everything about his posture tells you how lost in thought he is — perfectly at ease in the place he calls home.

I painted this scene because I know the feeling well. I could sit like this for hours, watching the light change on the water, with nothing but sea and sky ahead.
